Criminal Law

Our firm represents individuals and businesses facing state and federal criminal charges and investigations at all levels, and in select civil matters.  David A. Nachtigall is a Houston criminal defense lawyer who has defended accused persons and corporations in state and federal courts for crimes ranging from misdemeanors (e.g., DWI, assault, and theft) to serious felonies (e.g., bank robbery, drug possession, aggravated assault, sexual assault, possession of child pornography, and environmental crimes).  Our firm represents clients at both the trial and appellate level.  In addition to criminal cases, the firm assists clients with probation violations, petitions for nondisclosure, and expunctions.

Many of the firm’s clients are professionals who have never been involved in the criminal justice system and likely never will be again. Our firm understands the fear and anxiety that accompany being charged with a crime and endeavors to empower its clients with a full understanding of the criminal justice system as it relates to their cases, and treats its clients with personal attention and compassion.

Investigations

David A. Nachtigall, Attorney at Law, PLLC also represents individuals and business during the investigative stages of criminal proceedings.  We have successfully deterred law enforcement from filing charges by taking effective preemptive action including defense investigations, contact with law enforcement, and negotiations with prosecutors.

White Collar Matters

white collars matters consultationAs a former white collar prosecutor, David has significant experience in white collar investigation and litigation.  David defends individuals and corporations in state and federal courts charged with financial crimes including aggregate theft and embezzlement, healthcare fraud, mortgage and insurance fraud, securities fraud, and money laundering.

David also provides consulting services and representation to companies seeking to develop civil or criminal cases involving theft or fraud.  David has assisted individuals and businesses in developing and preparing white collar criminal cases for prosecution.

Civil Litigation

Our firm also handles select civil matters with a focus on white collar cases and those in which there is a possibility of concurrent criminal litigation.  As true trial lawyers and experienced courtroom advocates, we are undaunted by the posturing and bullying that is an unfortunate characteristic in some civil litigation.  Not only are we effective in the “paper” portions of a civil suit, we are experienced and effective in front of judges and juries.

George A. Nachtigall, of counsel, is a litigator with over 38 years of civil litigation experience and an assists in the firm’s civil matters.  George is a former Assistant United States attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, senior litigator at Shell Oil Company, and Deputy Division Chief at the Harris County Attorney’s Office.
