George Nachtigall (Of Counsel)
George brings over four decades of civil litigation experience in state and federal courts throughout the United States to the firm. In his long career, George has represented major private industrial clients, governmental clients, and individuals in a vast variety of lawsuits as well as handling appeals in Texas appellate courts and in the First Circuit, Fifth Circuit and Ninth Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal.
As an Assistant United States Attorney with the United States Department of Justice, George represented federal departments, agencies and individual employees of the federal government in actions and appeals involving, among other things, federal laws and programs, Federal Tort Claims Act, and civil rights lawsuits.
QUALIFICATIONS
George served as a Senior Litigation Counsel to the Shell Oil Company representing Shell in lawsuits and class actions in over twenty-eight states throughout the United States in such areas of franchise litigation, environmental contamination, commercial disputes, antitrust litigation and severe personal injury and wrongful death cases.
George also served in the Harris County Attorney’s Office as the Deputy Chief of the Trial Division. There he defended the County as well as individual County employees in state and federal court in lawsuits involving the Texas Tort Claim Act, contract cases and civil rights actions as well as prosecuting environmental cases. George also served as the Deputy Chief of the Real Property Division and prosecuted eminent domain actions to condemn private property for the use of Harris County and other governmental entities.
In 2011 George was recognized for his exemplary work in a case of public interest by the Texas District and County Attorneys Association and was awarded the “Lone Star Award”.
George served as a member of the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct Committee of the State Bar of Texas in Austin, Texas for seven years and has lectured on topics such as the Texas Tort Claims Act, eminent domain, and legal ethics.
EDUCATION
George received his B.A. with high honors from the University of Pittsburgh and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. George received his J.D. with high honors from South Texas College of Law where he served on the Editorial Board of the South Texas Law Review and received numerous awards for scholarship.
